I weaned my 5 year old when he was 15 months old. He has a TERRIBLE oral fixation, like everything goes into his mouth. Marbles, legos, you name it. Dangerous, scary and upsetting to think I messed him up when I weaned him. so now I have another little one and I'm trying to get input, I know I'm supposed to use my intuition, but I thought I'd ask around and see if maybe there's a method, or a time, that is more commonly appropriate.

Re: WEANING
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 6:02 PMi think it's different for every mom and every child
my son is 26 months, and i just feel done. i always thought i would let him wean himself, but some months ago he was still going full throttle, like 7-11 times a day, and eatting lots too. so i started limitting it. bringing it down to 4 or 5 a day. now we're down to 0-3 a day, and he still asks. we've been talking about it a lot, about how little babies don't eat food so they need boobie all the time, but big boys like him eat lots of good foods, and mommy needs to have her body back. he kinda gets it, mostly he gets that i won't give him any when i go into the speech. i feel bad since he's still attached to it, but i'm just over it. mostly we just have boobie in bed in the morning cuz it allows me an extra half hour to doze. we're planning to have a good bye boobie party w/ cake and everything.
but i'm not sure if i should try to substitute milk, like a bottle or a sippy cup, he had a bottle for a few months when he was real little and not gaining enuf, but not really since -
