I need to start the hunt for east bay pre-schools. We are in the middle of the relocation process - but I think we're shooting for Walnut Creek or that vicinity. Makena will turn 3 in March. A small class size without a lot of transition in teachers would be ideal - she takes a while to warm up to people and she's a little shy. She is amazing at picking up languages, so a bi-lingual, multi-lingual environment would be fantastic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: east bay pre-schools
Fri, November 9, 2007 - 9:51 PMThe Pleasant Hill / Walnut Creek Mothers' Club will be having a Preschool Fair on Saturday January 12, 2008 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Recreation Center. You can contact Anel Muterspaugh for more info at momsclubcodirectors@gmail.com
The Mothers' club and the Berkley Parenting Network have been great for me and helped me find an amazing daycare for my 1 1/2 year old daughter.
Good luck!

Wed, November 14, 2007 - 6:31 PMWell, having had been faced with the same circumstances a number of years ago, we decided on Ecole Bilingue, the French American School in Berkeley. Easy to get to, children must be potty trained completely though.

Exceedingly wonderful curriculum, environment, environmental balance and reputation. Nature walks for the older children, private gardens on grounds and quite secure. -

Yeah... but it costs MORE than UC Berkeley! -

Re: east bay pre-schools
Sat, December 15, 2007 - 7:57 PMthat reminds me, i'm on a budget. i'm not going to settle and send my daughter somewhere hazardous (not that we can ever be 100% certain as to how safe it really is), but at the same time I'm thinking ymca/kinder care price range. I'd love to be able to afford montessori, but I will need to make rent, eat & pay child support for my son that stays with his Dad.

Re: east bay pre-schools
Sun, December 16, 2007 - 3:12 PMAwwww, it doesn't cost THAT much, lol. Okay, it's not cheap, but even when we were there and on a budget, the tax deduction for education (slash) childcare was worth it for us. It's nice to take off that 5 grand a year on the tax sheet!
Best of luck finding something you're happy with! :)
